Before getting to the serious stuff, I want to make sure that you don’t forget to come to THIS SATURDAY’S Harrison Steam Preview Party, all proceeds from which will go to The Providence Eye!
Now, if there’s one thing we’ve learned this election season it’s that we can never take our democracy for granted. Here at The Providence Eye, we see democracy and journalism as two sides of the same coin. If you care about one, it is imperative to care about the other.
Our nonprofit, all-volunteer newsroom seeks to inform and empower readers and to hold the powerful accountable. Neither would be possible without the support of community members like you.
From now until December 31, we have an opportunity to boost the impact of all donations to The Providence Eye, which will help power our newsroom into 2025 and finally allow us to hire staff.
NewsMatch, a national effort to support local journalism, will match all donations to The Providence Eye, and we’re trying to raise $20,000, which will, via the match, become $40,000!
This week you received an email inviting you to support us, and we ask you to respond with a donation as your investment in local democracy.
Donate now to have your contribution matched 100%!
And I urge you to read the piece below authored by Josh Stearns, of the Democracy Fund, who is a former Providence resident(!) and offers a compelling case for the kind of local journalism that The Providence Eye represents.
You already endorsed our mission by subscribing to The Providence Eye. Now we ask you to take the next step to secure the future of our community.
Thank you for believing in journalism that strengthens our democracy.
