Marilyn Lewis-Alves

Marilyn Lewis-Alves, 63, of East Providence, Rhode Island, passed away on March 25, 2026.

Affectionately known as Mimi or Auntie Mal, Marilyn was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend to many.

Born to the late Johnnie and Olivia (Durant) Hunter in Southern Pines, North Carolina, Marilyn moved to the State of Rhode Island in 1992 and worked for Hasbro Children’s Hospital for 26 years before her transfer to the emergency department of Rhode Island Hospital where she worked for 4 years.

Marilyn leaves to cherish her memory, her beloved husband Antonio F. Alves; son, David Lewis of East Providence, RI and daughters, Juvon Jordan (Brandon) of Providence, RI, Andrea Isom of Greensboro, NC, Taneka Parham of Pawtucket, RI, Adelaide Edwards of East Providence, RI, Elisa Morales-Smith of Providence, RI, Toni Sterling (Mark) of Providence, RI and Amber Ferrell of Washington, DC.

She is also survived by her siblings, Margaret Bower (George), Joseph Durant (Fatima), Mona Shanklin (Gerald), Julius Durant (Akua), Daphne Marshall (Derrick), and siblings-in-law, Angel Morales (Yvonne), Mark Morales (Melissa), Lucee Gaines, Roberta Smith (Harold), and Donna Morales.

She has 19 (nineteen) grandchildren, 6 (six) great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends who will honor and cherish her memory.

She was pre-deceased by her sister, Jacqueline Patterson (Fitzgerald).

Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 4, 2026 from 12:00-2:00 pm followed by a Funeral Service at 2:00 pm in the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence.
