Letters to the Editor 11.12

hello! I decided to start supporting PVD eye, its only $5 a month but its more than nothing!
I decided to start paying because of the weekly poem and the thorough calendar of events. If you
discontinue either I will reconsider my support!

really happy with your organization,

After reading “David Morales: State Rep, Wrestling Villain, Spider-Man… Mayor of Providence?” By Amanda Gutierrez and Eric Halvardson [September 24], I can’t help but think that showing up is David Morales’ secret sauce.

There is an old saying about Buddy Cianci that he would show up to “the opening of an envelope.” Morales reminds me of that saying because every time I go to an event I run into him.

He has showed up to important stuff. This year he showed up and advocated for the historic Butler Hospital Strike and was at the picket line encouraging workers. When service cuts hit RIPTA he brought attention and lifted up the voices of RI residents who would be devastated by the cuts. He relentlessly calls out ICE and denounces their barbaric behavior in our city. You might see him at a small event like a housing solidarity rally at City Hall or speaking at the “No Kings “rally attended by thousands.

The real magic of David Morales is that he is loud and shows up for Providence in a way that our current mayor does not.
