Andrew Yang ’96: A New Way Forward for American Politics

February 10 @ 8:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Join the Brown Political Union for a discussion with Andrew Yang ’96 on the state of American politics and democracy, bridging divides in polarized times, the Forward Party and third-party political reform, and reflections on his career. After becoming a successful entrepreneur, Yang gained mainstream attention when he ran for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020, popularizing his signature Universal Basic Income policy proposal. The next year, he ran for mayor of New York City in the 2021 Democratic primary. In October 2021, Yang left the Democratic Party and started the Forward Party, an alternative to the Democratic and Republican parties. Yang’s supporters are collectively known as the “Yang Gang.” Yang brings a wide range of experience and expertise to the BPU. We are especially excited that he will be joining us in the wake of the 2024 election and just weeks into the new Trump administration for his analysis on this critical moment in American history. After hearing from Yang, the event will open to a discussion section, during which the Brown community will engage in conversation with questions and responses. By attending this event, you are consenting to be in photos and videos taken during the talk.
