SAS is celebrating disability awareness month this October 2024. We invite everyone to come and check out our Barbie display in our lobby and grab some fun Barbie stickers!!!Since 2019, the Barbie line has expanded to include Barbie dolls with prosthetic limbs, hearing aids, a wheelchair and more. According to Mattel, Wheelchair Barbie was the second most popular Fashionista doll in 2020 and remained among the top ten most popular dolls globally in 2022, proving that there is massive demand for dolls with disabilities.Mattel shared, “Our Barbie Fashionistas line features a range of skin tones, body types and disabilities to reflect the diversity kids see in the world around them. Knowing that kids’ early childhood experiences help shape how they perceive the world, we are dedicated to reflecting a multi-dimensional view of beauty and fashion in our dolls.”This month we hope you join us in celebrating, educating and empowering the disabled community!!
