“Invitation to Ixcotel: Life in a Mexican Prison”

About the Event “Invitation to Ixcotel” is a series of ethnographic narratives, with essays, stories, and poems, along with conversations featuring inmates in a Mexican prison in Oaxaca, one of the poorest states with a large concentration of indigenous communities in the southwest part of the country. Over a period of more than 13 years, the main participants in the book became collaborating ethnographers who worked with sociolinguist Angeles Clemente.About the Author Angeles Clemente obtained a Ph.D. in Education in languages from the University of London and worked as a professor for 30 years at UABJO, the State University of Oaxaca in Mexico.
