Enjoy a concert of Latin-American dances and song-dances from the Renaissance to the present, including folias, jácaras, and fandangos.
The music ranges from early Spanish Cancioneros (songbooks) in old Iberia to contemporary folk and popular music from Venezuela and Mexico. Performers will switch from period Renaissance instruments to the Venezuelan cuatro and bandola to illustrate the similar — yet distinctively different — sonorities, and the rhythmic and harmonic connections between the two continents.
Museum Concerts is committed to bringing to life affordable music from past centuries performed by accomplished musicians. Discounted tickets are available for students and low income attendees. For more information, please visit MuseumConcerts.org.
