Museum Concerts brings an award-winning British vocal ensemble – The Gesualdo Six – to Providence to perform English motets.
The Gesualdo Six has quickly established itself as one of the premier early music vocal ensembles in the world. They have performed at numerous major festivals around the globe over the last ten years as well as produced nine acclaimed recordings in that time.
The program of English motets will consist of Renaissance masters over two hundred years, encompassing ornate early pieces by Pygott and Cornysh, intricately woven polyphonic works by Tallis and Byrd, and the beautiful simplicity of Mundy and Tomkins. “Ingeniously programmed and impeccably delivered, with that undefinable excitement that comes from a group of musicians working absolutely as one.” – Gramophone Magazine
Museum Concerts is committed to bringing to life affordable music from past centuries performed by accomplished musicians. Discounted tickets are available for students and low income attendees.
