Notes From The Field
Directed by Jonathan Pitts-Wiley and Sonny Wong, Notes from the Field by Anna Deavere Smith is a compelling documentary-style play that addresses the educational and social issues affecting American students, particularly those from underprivileged backgrounds.
Through a series of monologues based on real interviews and stories, Smith explores the systemic challenges faced by students, teachers, and families. The play highlights issues such as racial inequality, the school-to-prison pipeline, and the struggles within the education system. By using a variety of voices and perspectives, Smith creates a powerful narrative that calls for reflection and change.
