Short Film: “What’s Wrong with the World” at Rochambeau Library

July 27, 2024 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Join us on Saturday, July 27 at 2:00PM for an experience of artistic exploration and community connection!

During their artists-in-residency, Melanie Hicken and Christopher Ransom invited neighbors to participate in a series of film screenings and discussions around displacement. We are celebrating the conclusion of their residency with a very special screening of their work.

This unique screening unveils a preliminary script threaded through rich archival material and new audiovisual records.

According to the artists, “the centerpiece of the film is a precise audiovisual record of the current locations of around 50 black owned businesses in the 1950’s Lippitt Hill neighborhood as identified by the Rhode Island Black Heritage Society in their 2021 publication A Matter of Truth.”

Don’t miss this opportunity to discover stories of place and to connect with your neighbors at a special cinematic event.

Free and open to the public!
