The Art of Memoir Storytelling: Six-Week Course

April 11 @ 8:00 am - 5:00 pm

In this four-week course for adults taught by Marissa Gallerani, we’ll review the fundamentals of memoir writing!

We’ve all got stories to tell – whether from our own lives our our family’s. But getting them down on pen and paper can be the hardest part. In this four-week course, we’ll review the fundamentals of memoir writing and how to tackle the biggest obstacles. What if you don’t remember everything? How do we make our memories seem compelling? By using examples of past and present memoirs alike, students will walk away with a better understanding of how memoir works, and how to craft their own stories. Students will have many chances to write, and will have a chance to share their work in class. Writers of all abilities are welcome.

Marissa Gallerani is a writer and teacher living in Providence, RI. She runs the Substack newsletter The Chaotic Reader, and has both courses and articles forthcoming with Write or Die. She holds a MFA from the Newport MFA at Salve Regina University, and has been featured in the Harvard Review Online, the public’s radio, and The Financial Diet. When not writing or reading, she enjoys traveling, spoiling all of her friends’ pets, and looking for the best breakfast sandwich she can find.

Classes take place every Thursday night, 6pm-7:30pm, March 21st through April 11th at Mt. Pleasant Library. Register through Eventbrite to sign up for the entire course. Please sign up only if you plan on attending all four classes.  Register through Eventbrite to sign up for the entire course. Please sign up only if you plan on attending all six classes.
