Wreck Room presents: Ravi Shavi + Nova One + Dakou Dakou

The debut of “Wreck Room”, a series of public art interventions focused on recreational and therapeutic practice, this one will kick off with an open recovery meeting with special guest Dr. Don Worth speaking about addiction and recovery centers of the future, followed by ping-pong/chess and a show at 8PM with Ravi Shavi, Nova One, and Dakou Dakou. 

At 4PM, Don Worth, Ph.D. will be presenting an alternative to the addiction model of recovery that reduces stigma, brings recovery back to the community, and encourages the stimulation of natural substances (endorphins, dopamine, gabapentin, cannabinoids) that substances of abuse mimic, rebuilding our social nervous systems through fun, affiliation, music, dance, and recreation. After attending one of Dr. Worth’s intensive seminars, Rafay has invited Dr. Worth to speak at the debut of his public art series, Wreck Room, which also serves as an application of this futuristic model and integrates his work across providence DIY, relational aesthetics/live art, and substance abuse.
