Ghost Tours | Riley
Pedestrian Bridge
I’m just walking back to work. My girlfriend and I just went on a nice little walk. We were talking about some ways to make a little extra cash. I have this side interest in ghost tours. So I applied for this job as a ghost tour in Fall River. And they offered it, but I don’t know if it’s worth the money. I’m just trying to work that out at this point. It would just be evening, Saturday nights, probably.
The Lizzie Borden house is there. Lizzie Borden is this kind of famous person who was charged. If I’m not mistaken, she was charged with murdering her family with an axe in the 1890s. I think she was acquitted, but it just kind of lives on in the, you know, the New England cultural memory as a particularly gruesome thing. So anyway, the house where the murder was is in Fall River. That’s what she’s over there for. The tour, I’m told, does other things, but that’s the main kind of draw to that. I think they also have a Providence tour, but I’m not sure about that.
I’ve done a lot of ghost tours. It’s always kind of this way to see the underside, if you will. The not-as-advertised history of a place. I think it’s kind of fun. And it’s usually a little campy and cute. I like doing them in the cities I visit, and I’ve been a tour guide before, so I thought it would be a fun way to make a little extra cash.
A Celebrity Duck’s Great Adventure | Justin and Dawn Ducky
Pedestrian Bridge
We’re on a great adventure right now. I bought him at Tractor Supply for seven bucks the day he hatched. And we’ve been on a great adventure ever since, you know. I got him registered as a service duck. He has a lawyer, a manager and security guards. He’s getting sponsored by Tizzy K, Sophia’s Cafe, and Jeep Wrangler, so we go around duck in Jeeps. We go to schools for the children, and I’m working on a children’s book right now. It’s going to be called How Dawn Found His Quack. It’s going to be based on recycling. And he just became the mascot of Providence Friars. That’s what’s going on right now. We’re working on getting the hospitals.
When I got Dawn, I didn’t envision that it would become something like this. I got Dawn, and I was just enjoying the pet I always wanted as a kid, and then I started taking ideas from everybody. ‘You should give an Instagram for him, you should make him this, you should take him there, you should take him there.’ And I started listening to everybody, and all the ideas started coming into play. I see how everybody gravitated towards him, how they like him. He’s a celeb. He was on the news. We everywhere, you know?
He loves love. Show him love, he loves you back. I also have children. I like to play with the children and take ‘em places, do stuff, listen to music, dance. I love to dance. He likes all kinds of music, honestly. I would say his favorite song right now has to be Roses by SAINt JHN featuring Future. He loves to dance, know what I’m sayin’. Girls is twerkin’ on him. He’s becoming the mascot of Rhode Island. Every time we walk down the street and people see him they wanna’ get their picture with him: ‘Oh, I want that picture with Dawn! Ay, what up Dawn, how you doin’?’ He loves love. My trademark is I put jewelry on him, and his nickname is Duck Sauce, because he’s so saucy.
I have no plans today with Dawn. His birthday was yesterday. I had some cake and ice cream for him. He just turned five months. I just came from Petco, I just fed him some snacks. We walk to the bridge every day, take a nice little lap. If he leaves, he’ll probably come back, because I show him a lot of love. There was times when I threw him away, and he had came back, he flew back to me. He could fly now. You know, I’m ready for whatever. If he wants to go, he can go. But I enjoyed this time. I’m hopefully enjoying more time with him. We got more places to go.
