Alice Russo of Providence, RI, passed away peacefully on February 21, 2026. Alice was born on April 12, 1932, in Providence, RI, to Corrado Palmiotti and Carmela (Prete) Palmiotti. She was raised in the Eagle Park section of Providence where she resided with her family while attending Mt. Pleasant High School. She later met and married the love of her life, Joseph Russo, who predeceased her in death in 1991. They were married for 39 years surrounded by family, which was the cornerstone of their rich Italian culture. Alice was the epitome of the true homemaker—always making sure everyone was properly taken care of. She was the primary caregiver for her parents during their lifetimes and later on for her husband, as well as always being there to lend a hand to any family member who needed her assistance. Alice’s devotion to her only child, Donna, was well documented whether it be a home-cooked meal during lunch time while she was home from school during a half-hour lunch period or making sure her home was always welcoming to Donna’s friends—who would come over many times to enjoy the company of Alice herself. Her home, which was her pride and joy was always a welcoming venue for family and friends who enjoyed her Italian cooking –most notably her Italian wedding soup, chicken cutlets or her eggplant. She truly believed that family was the heart of everything in life. In her later years, she resided with her daughter and son-in-law, Donna and Richard Clemence. They traveled the world together experiencing such ventures as Alaska, Italy, Turkey, Florida and New Orleans to name just a few of the places where they explored, wined and dined. Alice was always up for a good meal, a place to shop and a good laugh. Her smile and laugh were infectious and that made people naturally gravitate toward her.
Alice leaves behind her daughter Donna Clemence (Richard) of Providence with whom she made her home for the last 16 years; Granddaughter Jill Corey (John) of Voluntown, CT; Great granddaughter Allison Harris and Ezra Tatro of Danielson, CT; and Great great grandchildren, Garrett and Emmett Yeaw.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Friday, February 27, 2026, at 8:30 AM from the A. A. Mariani and Son Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins Street, Providence. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM in St. Ann Church, 280 Hawkins Street, Providence. Burial will continue in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
