Allen J. Restivo

Allen J. Restivo, 84, of Warwick, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2026, while receiving hospice care.

He was the beloved husband of Carole A. (Parker) Restivo, with whom he shared over 60 years of love, family, and traveling.

Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Philip and Elvera (Lolio) Restivo.

Allen graduated from Mount Pleasant High School with the Class of 1960 and attended technical school after graduation. He began his career at Nortronics in Massachusetts, where he specialized in gyroscopes, and later worked as an aircraft technician at Quonset Point. He eventually found success in banking, rising to the position of Vice President at Columbus National Bank. Following a bank merger, Allen held several other positions before discovering what would become his life’s greatest passion—serving children through volunteering, mentoring, and teaching technology in local schools.

Although Allen enjoyed a varied professional career, his heart was always with children. Over the years, he coached Little League, worked at The Children’s Center on Mount Pleasant Avenue, and worked at Saint Aloysius Home in Greenville. He volunteered with Big Brothers Big Sisters, taught CCD, gave private piano lessons, served as a CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) for children, and spent time at Hasbro Children’s Hospital, where he entertained young patients with crafts, games, and magic tricks. Whether teaching, coaching, mentoring, or simply making a child smile, Allen had a remarkable gift for making every young person feel valued and loved.

A devoted Roman Catholic, he found great joy in sharing his gift of music as a tenor in several church choirs for more than 50 years. Alongside his beloved wife Carole, and later their daughters as they came of age, he enriched countless liturgies through song. It was in the church choir that he and Carole started their courtship, then married, beginning a lifelong partnership rooted in family and music.

One of Allen’s other great joys was traveling with his family. Together with Carole, he created lasting memories by exploring the world with their daughters and, later, their grandchildren. Whether by land, sea, or air, every journey became an adventure, and those shared experiences became treasured family traditions with lots of pictures to capture these grand adventures.

Allen often said he hoped to welcome every child who arrived in heaven with warmth and love. His family believes he has made that wish come true.

Allen is survived by his devoted wife, Carole Restivo; his daughters, Robin (Restivo) Borges and her husband, Edmund (Ted) Borges, of West Greenwich, and Sherry (Restivo) Sroka and her husband, Joshua Sroka, of South Kingstown. He also leaves seven cherished grandchildren: Thomas Borges of North Kingstown; Abigail (Borges) Pennington and her husband Nicholas Pennington of Washington, D.C.; Julia Borges of Boston, Massachusetts; Mitchell Sroka of North Kingstown; and Ian, Kayla, and Nathaniel Sroka, all of South Kingstown.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services on Friday, July 17, 2026, with visiting hours from 8:30 am – 9:45 am at the A.A. Mariani & Son Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins Street, Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:00 am at St. Bernard Church, 275 Tower Hill Road, North Kingstown.

Burial will be private in St. Francis Cemetery.
