Adrienne A. (Buzzerio) Matzner

Adrienne A. (Buzzerio) Matzner, 77 died peacefully on November 21st. Ironically it was 39 years to the day of her beloved husband Jerome’s death. She was born in Providence to Armando & Anita Buzzerio. She was the wife of the late Jerome Matzner. She had 5 brothers; Robert, Jeffrey, Armand, Kevin, & Albert and had two sisters; Cynthia Zimmerman and the late Barbara Mills. She was extremely devoted to her family and the loves of her life were Christopher & Elizabeth.

She was educated starting in nursery school by the Venerini Nuns and graduated from both St. Ann School and St. Francis Xavier Academy. From high school, Adrienne embarked on her career and had been the Bookkeeper and Office Manager at I. M. Broomfield & Sons for 42 years until her retirement.Although David Broomfield was her boss, they were best of “pals”.

Adrienne had served St. Ann in a number of capacities throughout her life. She taught and coordinated Religious Education for over 30 years, served as a member and officer of the Rosary Altar Society, been a lector and Eucharistic Minister, served in the role of Pastoral Associate, been active in the CYO, served on the Parish Reunion Committee, & Chaired the Catholic Charity Fund Appeal to name a few. Adrienne had been a member on many other committees, far too numerous to mention and continued her service until her illness over the last few years. Her never-ending devotion to St. Ann is forever etched in our memory.

It was with the same effortless zeal that she devoted to her family. She is already sorely missed by her siblings, nieces, nephews, and cousins. Everyone knew she was devoted to all of us and always put everyone else first. Most of all, behind her proper exterior was a sense of humor most were unaware of. It was because of this “seriousness”, that most of us in the family were compelled to tease her. She adored the attention and knew that we all loved her deeply; we all know she laughed as heartily as we did. We have lost one of the good ones, but our lives are better for having had her with us.

Her funeral will be held on Tuesday, December 3, 2024 at 9:00 a.m. from the A.A. MARIANI & SON Funeral Home, 200 Hawkins Street, Providence followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. in St. Ann’s Church, 280 Hawkins Street, Providence. Burial will follow in Pawtuxet Memorial Park Cemetery, 100 Harrison Avenue, Warwick, RI. Visiting hours will be held on Monday, December 2, 2024 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m.
