Our family Matriarch and beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, Dorothea Yabroudy, 89, of Smithfield Woods, passed away at home on Sunday morning, June 22, 2025. She was a devoted wife to the late Edward Yabroudy and mother to the late Christine Yabroudy of Cumberland.
Born in Osnabruck, Germany, on October 21, 1935, Dorothea was a cherished daughter of the late Karl and Anna (Becker) Strothoff. She was raised & educated there with her 3 sisters before she emigrated to the United
States in her early twenties. Shortly thereafter she became and remained fluent in both German & English.
Dorothea was a beautiful and intelligent person with an outgoing personality. A devoted mother, she worked as a stay-at-home seamstress while raising her children and was later employed as a Nurse’s Aide for many years; she provided exceptional care and sincere compassion to all those she served.
An excellent party hostess, she thoroughly enjoyed gathering and cooking for family and friends. She enjoyed traveling and collecting antiques. Her real passion was spending hours tending to her flower gardens. As a woman of faith, she was a decades-long communicant of St Basil’s Parish in Pawtucket.
She is survived by her son, Alan Yabroudy, and his partner, Reta, of Canton, MA; her grandchild, Shara Yabroudy; and her sister, Ann Eisenhammer, of Cumberland. She was predeceased by her sisters, Louisa & Kate of Germany.
Relatives & friends are cordially invited to Visitation & Services on Thursday, June 26th from 4:00-6:00p.m. at the Berarducci Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, 185 Spring Street, Woonsocket.
