Julia M. Rollins, 82, of Providence, passed away on Thursday, January 1, 2026. She was the wife of the late John H. Rollins to whom she adored and was married to for 53 years.
Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Manuel and Mary (Rose) Fortes.
Mrs. Rollins worked as a deputy clerk in probate court for the City of Providence before retiring. She was a 1961 graduate of Hope High School in Providence. She was also an avid reader and very passionate about civil rights.
She leaves four daughters, Lisa Ann Rollins, Johnna Marie Rollins, Tracey Rollins Spann and her husband Christopher and Dina Lee Rollins Bruce, one sister, Gwendolyn Fortes, one brother, John A. Fortes, seven grandchildren and six great grandchildren. She was the sister of the late Phyllis Araujo.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, January 8, 2025 at 11:00 AM in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 21 Traverse Street, Providence. Burial will be held in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston. Calling hours Wednesday, 5-8 PM in PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence.
