In the Garden of Life, a beautiful and radiant spirit blossomed in the personality in the life of Pearl I. Gailloux. She was born Pearl I. Briggs to the late Wesley Briggs, Sr. and Cora (Gray) Roussan on April 15, 1932 in East Providence, RI. She was the third of nine children born to this union.
Pearl was a life-long resident of Providence and graduated from Hope High School in 1952.
She was employed as a Teacher’s Assistant for the Providence Public School Department and proudly retired at the ripe age of 56 years old after more than twenty years of service.
Pearl was a proud member of Olney Street Baptist Church for more than fifty years. She was a faithful member of the OSBC Choir; and a Team Captain for the annual Women’s Day Program for many years.
Pearl passed away on August 7, 2025 surrounded by her loving family at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in North Providence, RI.
She is survived by her three daughters: Shelly Briggs of Upper Marlboro, MD, Estella Brown (Pierre) of Quincy, MA, and Debora Gailloux of Providence, RI. She is also survived by her sisters: Brenda Atkins of Providence, RI and Beverly Roussan of St. Louis, MO.
She will be lovingly remembered by her Grandchildren: Larry Gailloux, Paul Gailloux, Tyrrell Gailloux, Patrice Gailloux and Malik Gailloux; her Great-grandchildren: Mone’t Gailloux, Larry Gailloux, Jr., Pierre Gailloux, Naya Gailloux, Zion Gailloux, Zyheri Gailloux and Ar’mais Busby.
She is predeceased by her brothers: Arthur “Sonny” Gray, Sr., Stephen Briggs, Wesley Briggs, Jr., and Norman “Charlie” Gray, Sr. and her sisters Linda Roussan-Lowery and Lorraine Harris.
Pearl was an active member of St. Martin DePorres Senior Center for thirty years. She also served as treasurer for the Board of Directors for the Chad Brown Health Center.
