Feeling Optimistic | Brianna
Downtown Providence
Today is a busy day with just errands. I am sort of in this big transitional moment and phase of my life right now. Looking for housing at the moment is very challenging here in Rhode Island. I’m really close with the homeless community out here, actually. I’m unhoused, but I’m looking for housing and I’m in housing programs and things like that to get myself more stable. And I’m, in the midst of all of it, still grateful, still optimistic. I don’t know, I think it’s a time in my life where I’m able to feel a little bit less rigid and more able to look outside of the box and look at other options. So I feel optimistic, I feel childlike, and I feel a lot of uncertainty, and in the beginning I felt a lot of fear. But now I’m just sort of seeing a lot of things that are inspiring me at the moment.
I think I’ve been inspired by the student population here, the local community itself, and being somewhere new where I feel heavy support and encouragement by others to keep going. It feels good that way. It helps a lot. I came to Providence four years ago, actually. So, during the pandemic, and it’s sort of been an off and on, four year type thing. I’m just very appreciative that that now I’m really a resident here after four years, and just seeing how things have been taking place in each step of the way.
My biggest role while I’m out here is to finish my degree and help the communities, like the local community, out here the way I’ve been helped. I feel a lot of big emotions around that right now but I’m just going through the motions.
