Scott Anthony Woodard

Scott Anthony Woodard, 54, of New Bedford, MA and Veteran of the United States Coast Guard was called home to be with the Lord on January 31, 2025, after suffering a fatal heart attack.

Scott was the son of Honor Woodard Jr. and Lillian Woodard. Besides his parents, Scott is survived by his son Jordan Woodard a veteran of the United States Air Force, his son Taylor Woodard, his stepdaughter Danai Janelle Motta and a sister in the DC area. Scott was proceeded in death by his son Sargent Sage Woodard, of the United States Marine Corp, and a host of cousins and relatives.

Scott was a graduate of Our Lady of Providence (OLP). Scott enlisted in the US Coast Guard where he served for 12 years. He was stationed in Portsmouth NH on the Coast Guard Cutter Tamaroa. Scott and his shipmates were a part the heroic rescue when an Airforce rescue helicopter plunged into the Atlantic Ocean during the Halloween storm also known as “The Perfect Storm”. Scott received many medals, citations and awards including the National Defense Service Medal.

Scott made a commitment to the Lord and was baptized on October 3, 1982. Scott was a man with a beautiful spirit who was always young at heart.

Scott loved movies. He was always ready to show friends and family around when he worked as a projectionist at Cinema World Theater. He never missed a premiere!

Scott loved his family and friends. He had a knack for making friends easily and making all friends feel like his best friend.

His absence leaves an unfillable void in our hearts. We are thankful to God for the time Scott had on this earth and the impact he had on our lives.
