James R. Poons, 95, of Providence, RI, passed away on April 20, 2026.
He was the husband of Betty R. (Horrigan) Kabbas Poons.
Born in Colchester, VT, he was the son of the late William and Lucille (Levine) Poons.
James honorably served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was a steamfitter with Colfax Corporation.
James is survived by his wife, Betty R. (Horrigan) Kabbas Poons, his children: Robert Poons and wife Florence, Harry Smith, Patricia Deitch, Elizabeth Mullin, his sister: Danielle Faella and husband Jerry, his grandchildren: Ericka, Lisa, Lynn, Tammy, Robert Jr., Travis, and his great-grandchildren: Jacob, Alex, and Camden.
He was preceded in death by his former wives, Elizabeth A. (Righie) Poons and Elizabeth J. (Passarelli) Poons, his granddaughter, Joyce, and his brothers, Austin Poons, Donald Poons, and Francis Poons.
