Jessie Schenck Dudley of Providence passed away peacefully on April 2, 2026, after an illness, surrounded by love.

Born on September 11, 1938, in Cleveland, North Carolina, Jessie was the beloved daughter of Evelyn Schenck and Esley Eve. From an early age, she was grounded in faith, and throughout her life she remained a devoted Woman of God, pouring her heart into both her ministry and her family. She had a gentle, giving spirit, and was known for praying with and uplifting anyone in need.

Jessie was a dedicated pastor, teacher, and lifelong educator. She was the beloved wife of Daniel Dudley and a guiding light to many. She is survived by her loving siblings: James Schenck of Warwick, Hattie (Ruby) Levy of Georgia, and Jacqueline Schenck Wagner of Providence. She also leaves behind her cherished children, Jamal Dudley of Atlanta and Evelyn Hardy and her husband Brian of Providence.

Education was deeply important to Jessie. She earned her master’s degree in Business Management and attended Johnson & Wales University, Rhode Island College, and Northeastern University. She shared her passion for learning as a teacher at Davie’s High School in Lincoln, Rhode Island, and later continued shaping young minds as a part-time educator in the Pawtucket School System.

In 1985, Jessie co-founded Watch & Pray Church, where she faithfully served as a pastor. She was a gifted and passionate teacher of God’s word, known for her deep commitment to the doctrine of righteousness in Jesus Christ. Her ministry spanned Christian education at all levels, including college, secondary, and elementary, as well as secular education. Even in later years, she remained active in her calling, leading a nine-year international intercessory prayer group and Bible study, bringing people together in faith across the world.

Jessie’s greatest joy was her family. She was blessed with 16 grandchildren and 36 great-grandchildren, each of whom she loved dearly. Her legacy of faith, compassion, and devotion will live on through them and all who were touched by her life.

She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Evelyn and Esley.
