Joel Robinson, Esq., 88, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 2026, at Hope Health Hospice. Born in Providence, a son of the late Fred and Fannie (Kohn) Robinson. A lifelong Rhode Islander, Joel graduated from Hope High School, class of 1955; He continued on to the University of Rhode Island receiving his bachelors degree. then swiftly received his LLB from Boston University in 1961. After joining the RI Bar Association, he served Rhode Island for nearly 55 years specializing in real estate, family law and creditors rights, retiring in 2012. Joel was a Captain and a JAG Officer in the United States Army.
Joel was deeply dedicated to his family and took great pride in his home. When he wasn’t working he found joy in painting and fixing things around the house. Joel enjoyed playing tennis and backgammon, but some of his favorite moments were the quiet ones—lying in the sun on Cape Cod with a book in his hand and his beloved Red Sox on the radio, while working on his tan! He was a devoted father of Gary Robinson, his wife Natalie, Michael Robinson, his wife Mara, and Jamie Berman, her husband Garrett. Loving grandfather of Lauren, Todd, Madison, Jacob, Victoria, Lindsay and Mia. Aside from his parents, Joel was predeceased by his siblings, Judge Shayle Robinson and the late Libby Robinson.
