Joseph D. Tallo Sr., 61, of Johnston, passed away peacefully at Rhode Island Hospital on Sunday, May 18, 2026. Born in Providence, he was the beloved son of the late William “Tootsie” Tallo, Sr. and Catherine (Beavers) Rahill.
Joe was a devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose greatest joy in life was his family. He especially cherished his grandson, Joseph, who inspired him to fight cancer with tremendous strength and determination. Joe was a passionate New England Patriots fan and greatly admired Tom Brady and all his accomplishments. In his free time, he enjoyed playing poker, quahogging, fishing, and cooking for those he loved.
He is survived by his sons, Joseph Tallo Jr. and Devan Tallo; his cherished grandson, Joseph Pettengill; four brothers, Gale Rahill, William Tallo Jr., Vincent Tallo, and Thomas Tallo; and four sisters, Cissie Spardello, Melody Tallo, Shannon Izzi, and Tracy Tallo. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews, especially Michael T. Rahill, who was like a son to Joe and served as his devoted caretaker. Joe was predeceased by his beloved son, Scott Tallo and his brother, Michael Rahill.
