Luisa Maria Cardoso, 92, of Providence, passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at Evergreen House surrounded by her loving family. She was the wife of the late Oliverio R. Cardoso. Born in Mosteiros, Sao Miguel, Azores she was the daughter of the late Jose Cabral Dias and Maria Luisa (Arruda) Dias and the sister of the late Oliverio Jose Dias
Mrs. Cardoso was a Machine Operator for Davol Rubber Co. until her retirement. She will be remembered for her infectious smile and as a compassionate and selfless mother. She adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren and loved her cousins. She had a passion for Geography and Reading.
She loved having her children around her. She gave so much love. She loved to sing and share stories of her life growing up. She was a wealth of knowledge.
Everyone who knew her loved her – she will be greatly missed!
She was the beloved mother of Maria Paula Costa of Warwick, Maria Connie Maiorano and her husband Emilio of Lincoln, Margarida Sullivan and her husband Timothy of Warwick and Oliverio Cardoso and his wife Donna of Seekonk; loving grandmother of Corey Costa, Nicoli Costa, Kristian Maiorano, Bianca Pezzillo, Myles Maiorano, Madison Maiorano, Brendon Quintanilha, Chelsea Quintanilha, Olivia Cardoso and Kaden Cardoso; Cherished great grandmother of London, Noah, Mila, Pepper, Margot, Oliver, Layla, Madelynn and Elliana; loving godmother of Irene Macial.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 at 10:00 am in Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 21 Traverse Street, Providence. Burial will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery. Calling Hours on Tuesday from 5-7 pm in the PERRY-McSTAY FUNERAL HOME, 2555 Pawtucket Avenue, East Providence.
In lieu of flowers, gifts in her memory to Our Lady of the Rosary Church would be appreciated.
