Patrick J. Cullen II, 44, of Providence, Rhode Island, passed away on April 18, 2026. Born on January 9, 1982, in Woonsocket, Patrick was a man of quiet depth, keen observation, and a profound, thoughtful presence that touched everyone who knew him.
A dedicated data analyst by trade, Patrick found his greatest expression in the arts. He was a familiar and beloved figure in the local creative community, known for his evocative performances as a gargoyle at Providence Water Fire and his work on the stages of Barker Playhouse and 2nd Story Theatre. His talents reached far beyond local footlights; he once had the distinction of performing for President Obama and collaborated with his wife to record two audiobooks. Patrick’s interests were as vast as the cosmos he so admired. A devoted fan of Star Trek, he was drawn to its vision of a unified humanity and its exploration of complex ethics. He found joy in the physical challenge of rock climbing, the camaraderie of gaming with friends, and long conversations about cinema with his mother and brothers.
Those close to him knew that Patrick felt the world deeply—often more than he could put into words. He carried his accomplishments and his burdens with equal humility, rarely speaking of his own successes. His compass was often guided by the quiet companionship of his animals, including his beloved pets Dobby and Janeway, who were his constant shadows.
He is survived by his wife, Ashley; his mother, Kathleen; his stepfather, Barry; and his brothers, Sean, Ryan, Thomas, and Daniel, along with their families. He also leaves behind his aunts, Pam and Donna; his uncles, Mell and David; and his cousins, Adam, Dawn, Mikayla, and Beth, and their families. He was preceded in death by his aunt, Maureen. Patrick’s life was a testament to the idea that there is always more beneath the surface. He will be remembered for his brilliance, his kindness, and the steady, observant soul he shared with the world.
