Every Other Weekend | Abigail and Roki
Providence Ice Rink
Roki (right): I came here to meet my friend before I go back to the city tomorrow. New York City. I’m just in Providence for the weekend, visiting my friend.
Abigail (left): And your Dad.
Roki: And my dad.
Abigail: And your grandmother!
Roki: Yeah. I was on the ice rink already, it’s really fun. But I’m also kind of worried about my feet, just a little bit. I haven’t fallen yet. I don’t go ice skating often, I haven’t gone in a while.
Abigail: It’s more expensive in New York to go ice skating. It’s very reasonably priced here. I live in South Kingstown. I’m actually up here with my granddaughter. And with my son and their friend.
I actually attended a workshop today at the Center for the Study of Slavery and Justice at Brown University. It’s called a Teach-In. It’s really learning about the Indigenous people of this area. The Wampanoag and the Narragansett. And their history. So that’s what I did earlier today. And then after that, we came ice skating! We see each other every other weekend.
Roki: I really have to see my dad!
Abigail. So every other weekend we get to see Rocky. And then last summer, we got to see her almost the entire summer!
