Ronald DeSiderato, Sr., US Army SFC (Ret.), 80, of Providence, passed away peacefully at home Thursday December 5, 2024. He was surrounded by love and Ron stayed true to his personality by offering humorous commentary up until his last breath. He wanted to comfort us and so he did!
Ron was the loving husband of the late Helen Anne (Barta) DeSiderato. They were married for a beautiful 52 years, until Helen’s passing in 2017.
Ron, a lifelong Providence resident, was the devoted son of the late Gennarino and Rita (Carpineto) DeSiderato. He is survived by his loving son, Ronald DeSiderato, Jr.; his cherished daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Jeffrey Zarrella; and his treasured grandson, Nicholas J. Zarrella, who made his grandpa proud every day.
Ron is now reunited with his loving brothers, Gerald and Robert DeSiderato. He leaves behind his dear sisters-in-law, Judy DeSiderato and Jody DeSiderato, nephews, nieces, cousins, and a group of great friends.
Ron enlisted in the Army at age 17 and returned home to work for Durant Tool Supply and Standard Uniform Company. He continued his military service in the Army Reserves, 443rd Civil Affairs Company. His love of the Army drew him to active duty, and he retired in 1994 from the 94th ARCOM with a total of 27 years of service.
Ron continued working and the next chapter of his life brought him to Women and Infants Hospital, as well as RIPTA, retiring for the last time in 2010.
