Thomas E. Ragosta, 83, of Johnston, passed away on October 1, 2024, surrounded by his family at Hope Health Hulitar Hospice in Providence. He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Joyce (DeChristopher) Ragosta. The two were teenage sweethearts and had been married for more than 60 years. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Emilio and Christina (Montuori) Ragosta and brother of the late John Ragosta.
He leaves behind two devoted sons Thomas J. Ragosta, his wife Christine and their children Nicholas and Megan Boyle and Jeffrey P. Ragosta and his wife Christine. He was the cherished grandfather of Alyssa Ragosta and Jeffrey Ragosta, Jr. and his wife DeAngela and great grandfather to Asher and Evianna Ragosta.
Thomas graduated from Johnson and Wales University and Rhode Island School of Design with degrees in Computer and Architectural Engineering. He worked as a computer engineer for 40 years, designing computer software programs for companies throughout the country.
Thomas, a talented drummer, attended classes at Berklee College of Music while studying under many accomplished musicians. He played at several large venues throughout New England and was a member of the Providence Federation of Musicians.
He loved spending time with his family, playing chess, reading, listening to Jazz music and was the go-to handyman of the family. Thomas was an avid sports fan who loved cheering on all of the New England teams and never missed his grandchildren’s baseball or softball games.
Family and friends are invited to attend a mass of Christian burial on Wednesday, October 10th at 10:00 am, at St. Bartholomew’s Church, 297 Laurel Hill Ave, Providence. Burial to follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery, Cranston.
