Marcia C. (Lipscomb) Brown, 89, of Warwick, passed away Wednesday, April 9, 2025, surrounded by her family. She was the beloved wife of the late Austin Brown. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late William and Bernice (Bennette) Lipscomb.
Marcia received her associates degree in Nursing from CCRI and went on to work as an RN with Woman & Infants Hospital in the Labor and Delivery Department for many years. Previously honored as Employee of the Year, she received a plaque which is displayed within the hospital walls signifying her dedicated to her career, and her empathetic and caring nature.
More than just a nurse — Marcia was a caregiver in every sense of the word. With a heart as vast as her smile, she gave of herself tirelessly, always putting the needs of others before her own. Whether it was comforting a patient in the quiet hours of the night or lifting up a colleague on a hard day, Marcia’s empathy and grace never wavered. At home, she was the heart of her family — the one always cooking, always giving, always celebrating everyone else’s success as if it were her own. Her kitchen was a sanctuary where meals were made with love and laughter flowed freely. She never wanted to be a burden to anyone, and even in times when she needed help, she met life with humility and gratitude. Marcia inspired everyone she met with her quiet strength, her tireless service, and her genuine joy in seeing others thrive. Her legacy is one of love, selflessness, and profound kindness.
She is survived by her beloved children, Lori Brown, the late Mark K. Brown, Austin Brown Jr., and Scott Brown and his wife Monica; loving sister, Cheryl Cromwell and her husband Edward; cherished grandchildren, Larae Brown, Dennis Brown and his wife Pauline, Mikayla Casey, Faith Brown, and Sarah Dever; as well as one adored great grandson, Jayden Brown.
