Barbara K. Segal passed peacefully on Monday evening, November 10, 2025, with her treasured family by her side. She was the beloved wife of Philip A. Segal, Jr. for seventy-five loving years. Born in Brookline MA, daughter of the late Leo and Hilda Kopel and sister of the late Marion Kopel Pear.
She had lived in Cranston for sixty-nine years, previously living in Belmont, MA. For Barbara’s last three years she lived with her cherished daughter, Joan Segal, in Wayland MA.
Barbara was a devoted mother of James Segal and his partner Gail Sullivan, of Woburn, MA, Joan Segal of Wayland, MA and Adam Segal and his wife Julie of Ellington, CT. She was a loving grandmother of Jennifer and her husband Brian, and grandsons Michael, Spencer and Joshua. She was a cherished great grandmother of Maiya, Brielle & William. Barbara was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Cheryl Segal.
She is a graduate of Wheelock College with a BS in Education and went on to teach at Beaver Day School and the Cranston elementary school system. She continued her career working for non- profits – Travelers Aid Society, Volunteers in Action Opportunities for Women, and Director of Volunteers at RIARC serving the needs of mentally challenged citizens in Rhode Island and Southeastern Massachusetts.
Barbara was a founding member of Temple Sinai. She was a supporter of the RI Philharmonic Orchestra, Trinity Repertory Theater and a proud member of the Jewish Community Center. Barbara also was an avid tennis player, bridge player and world traveler with her husband Phil.
