Dorothy Claire (LaPorte) Glynn, 94, Cranston, passed away peacefully on August 23, 2025. Born in Providence, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Helen (Miska) LaPorte.
Dorothy was a clerk at Providence Public Library: Washington Park Branch for 10 years before retiring at age 75.
She loved oil painting, reading and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was the mother of Dorothy Swain and her husband John and twins James Glynn and his wife Teri and David Glynn and his wife Lynn; grandmother of Matthew Swain, Nicholas, Bethany, William and Casey Glynn and the late Melissa Swain; and great grandmother of Anthony and Nathan Warden, Grayson and Savannah-Rose Swain and Emilia Glynn. She was also the sister of the late Ernest LaPorte and Helen Roy.
A Celebration of Life will be held Wednesday, September 3, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM in the PONTARELLI-MARINO FUNERAL HOME, 971 Branch Avenue, Providence, followed by a service in the funeral home at 11:00 AM. Burial will be private.
