Gladys Mildred Coro Abbruzzese, born on April 15, 1932, in Providence, Rhode Island, passed away at the age of 93, March 26, 2026. She was the daughter of the late Alfred and Gladys Tetrault. Gladys lived a life marked by devotion to her family, a strong work ethic, and a warm spirit that touched all who knew her.
Gladys was first married to Gennaro Coro, with whom she shared a loving partnership until his sudden passing in 1979. In 1983, she married John Abbruzzese, and they enjoyed twenty-seven years together until his passing in 2010. Through both marriages, Gladys remained a steadfast anchor for her growing family, building a legacy of love and togetherness that spanned generations.
A skilled artisan, Gladys worked as a professional fine jewelry solderer in Lincoln, Rhode Island, where she crafted hand-linked gold watch bands. Her precision and dedication to her craft reflected the care she brought to every aspect of her life. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Gladys was known for her love of music and
dancing, passions that brought joy to those around her. Her family will forever cherish the memories of holidays and family gatherings made extraordinary by her wonderful cooking and baking. The warmth of her kitchen and the richness of her recipes were expressions of the deep love she held for her family.
Gladys is survived by her three daughters, Marie Marcotte, Joanne Kishfy, and Geraldine Cotnoir; four grandchildren, Deana Gosselin, Jessica Scolardi, Jennifer Kennedy, and Robert Carcieri. Eleven great-grandchildren, Ryan Medeiros, Brianna Scolardi, Zachary and Joshua Kennedy, Olivia and Sarah Gasbarro, and Lucia, Harry, Sophia, Riley and Jaxson Carcieri; and two great-great-grandchildren, Julian and Sophia Medeiros. She also leaves behind her sister Carol LaCourse. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Gennaro Coro, and her second husband, John Abbruzzese.
May the memories of her laughter, her graceful dancing, and the love she so freely gave bring comfort and peace to all who mourn her loss. May she rest in eternal peace.
