Irma C. Canales

A beloved mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, Irma C. Canales, 76, of Bridgham St., iProvidence, passed away unexpectedly, at home on June 20th, 2025. Born in Puerto Rico on December 8th,1948, she was a cherished daughter of the late Ricardo and Carmen M. (Falu) Canales. She is survived by her two devoted daughters, Siulka Torres with whom she resided and Irma Aileen Benabe of Milwaukee. She also leaves behind her seven beloved grandchildren: Genesis, Aecha, Kidanys, Thairyz, Kyara, Carina, and Oscar, and eight great grandkids: Marces, Jarel, Emil, Jailany, Nyar, Ariya, Mazikeen, and Jadiel, whom she adored.

Irma was a strong and hard-working woman, kindhearted and generous to everyone who needed her. She was the light of love and kindness for her family. She was adventurous, had a great sense of humor and loved joking around and making others laugh. Irma left Puerto Rico in 1989 and moved her family to Milwaukee after which she moved to Rhode Island in 2015 where she resided with her daughters until her passing.

A devoted mother and grandmother, Irma loved spending time with her family whether it was hosting their favorite holidays or making her delicious beans and squash. She loved the beach and loved to travel. At home, she liked to relax by watching her favorite action movies, comedy programs, and her favorite Spanish soap opera. She loved to sing and especially loved Salsa and Bachata music.

Services for Irma, to which family and friends are invited, will be held on Saturday June 28th, 2025, from 4-6pm in the Berarducci Funeral Home, 26 Grove Street, Providence.

Querida madre, abuela y bisabuela, Irma C. Canales, de 76 años, residente de la calle Bridgham en Providence, falleció inesperadamente en su hogar el 20 de junio de 2025. Nacida en Puerto Rico el 8 de diciembre de 1948, fue una querida hija de los difuntos Ricardo y Carmen M. (Falu) Canales. Le sobreviven sus dos devotas hijas, Irma Aileen Benabe y Siulka Torres, con quienes residió. También deja a sus siete queridos nietos: Génesis, Aecha, Kidanys, Thairyz, Kyara, Carina y Oscar, y a sus ocho bisnietos: Marces, Jarel, Emil, Jailan, Nyar, Ariya, Mazikeen y Jadiel, a quienes adoraba.

Irma fue una mujer fuerte y trabajadora, bondadosa y generosa con todos los que la necesitaban. Fue un ejemplo de amor y bondad para su familia. Era aventurera, tenía un gran sentido del humor y le encantaba bromear y hacer reír a los demás. Irma dejó Puerto Rico en 1989 y se mudó con su familia a Milwaukee. Posteriormente, en 2015, se mudó a Rhode Island, donde residió con sus hijas hasta su fallecimiento. Fue una madre y abuela devota; a Irma le encantaba pasar tiempo con su familia, ya fuera organizando sus fiestas favoritas o preparando sus deliciosos frijoles con calabaza. Amaba la playa y viajar. En casa, disfrutaba relajándose viendo sus películas de acción favoritas, comedias y su telenovela favorita. Le encantaba cantar, especialmente la salsa y la bachata.

El servicio fúnebre en memoria de Irma, al que se invita a familiares y amigos, se llevará a cabo el sábado 28 de junio de 2025, de 4 a 6 p. m., en la Funeraria Berarducci, ubicada en 26 Grove St, Providence.
