Dear Editor,

I will be brief just like my last letter.  I wish to express my appreciation for Jane Lancaster’s  The Rise and Fall of Esek Hopkins.

I hope you can convince her to submit the same type of superbly researched story for each Providence School named for an historical “Hero or a Villain.”

To the Editor:

Politics and Economics in the USA  December 2024

The Trump economic plan, if enacted as he hallucinates it, is likely to do serious damage to the US and Global economies. The plan is taken right from the 1840s playbook of the Southern Slaveholding Aristocracy that wanted to restrict democracy so that slavery could expand into the Western territories (now states) .  The Heritage Foundation and its Project 2025 is fueled by oil money, and its proponents have familial as well as intellectual ties to the Old South.  If enacted as proposed you will see more pollution, few labor rights, less democracy, more climate disasters, and an undercutting of the government’s ability to respond to disasters.  We will also see a restriction on the rights of Americans who are not cisgendered white men, which will have serious economic repercussions as no society that runs on strict patriarchal principles can have a working economy when it restricts the economic rights and productivity of women.  Read the entire paper, with references at    https://prosperityforri.com/about-us/f/politics-and-economics-in-the-usa-december-2024-greg-gerritt
