Thank you for this article on Sylvia Ann Soares’ tribute and performance at RISD museum. I was there and it was indeed mesmerizing! Sylvia Ann is a Rhode Island treasure! In the film I just finished, Optics of Aging, premiering at Providence public library on October 15, Sylvia Ann was originally going to be one of the protagonists in my film. But the pandemic hit after I had interviewed the five people who are in the film and so I did not continue. I’ve always thought it would make a great series as well. We have so many incredible, innovative, inspiring elders in our community. Sylvia Ann is definitely one of them.
