Thank you for publishing Jane Lancaster’s wonderful essays [like last Friday’s feature of “Who’s the Paul Cuffee School Named For? The First Person of Color to Enter the White House Through the Front Door*” about people who contributed to Rhode Island’s rich and diverse history. She choses such compelling subjects. I love the way Jane weaves anecdotes into her subjects’ stories, resulting in lively yet historically sound pieces. Keep them coming, Jane!

Thanks to Barry Schiller for his lengthy service [In February, We Celebrate Rosa Parks As a Champion of Transit Equity. But Rhode Island – and Providence – Have a Ways to Go.] to the public interest in transportation and environmental issues generally. Barry’s extensive clipping service and filing provide an useful history of the winding road of transportation in Rhode Island from buses to pedestrian modes to trains. His articulation of the issues makes connections and practical recommendations for improvement. Thanks for publishing his article.

Many thanks to Sarah Gleason for her reporting on Operation No One Dies [Operation No One Dies — “Creating A Standard of Care” for Those Experiencing Homelessness]. Although I participated with many others in the RI Council of Churches blanket drive last month, I had no idea of the scope of the operation. Photos of the lovely, clean spaces and the colorful blankets were also very welcome.
