Raymond C. Caputo
98, of Johnston, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 28, 2024. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late John and Elissa “Alice” (Riccitelli) Caputo.
In high school Raymond excelled in sports, specifically track and field and won several medals through the Interscholastic League. Shortly after graduating Mt. Pleasant High School, Raymond joined into the United States Army, Infantry with active service beginning February 12, 1944. During this period of service Raymond was boots on the ground on the beaches of Normandy and experienced firsthand physical combat and war. During the second part of his service, he became a Radio Operator and during his final period Raymond served as Postal clerk Frankfurt, Germany. He was the honorably discharged on June 14, 1946. Raymond Caputo Technician Fifth Grade, Company Infantry. Decorations and Citations: European African Middle-Eastern Campaign Medal, Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal. Upon Raymonds return home he opened and operated his own business, MT. Pleasant TV in Providence. He ran the TV repair business until his retirement.
Raymond is survived by his son Richard Caputo and wife Keri Lynn Kent, his brother Edward “Eddy” Caputo and his wife Lillan, and his sister Gladys Johnson as well as a grandson Anthony Caputo. He was predeceased by his wife Marie Ann (Tortolani) Caputo, his son Stephen Caputo Jr., and his grandson Stephen Caputo Jr.
Visiting hours will be held on Friday, November 1st, from 9:00-10:00 a.m. in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Avenue, Cranston, followed by his Funeral Home Service at 10:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will take place in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
