Richard D. Amaral

Richard D. Amaral, affectionately known as Quod to his friends and family, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, at RI Hospital in Providence, Rhode Island. Born on April 9, 1971, in Providence, Quod’s infectious laughter and adventurous spirit were gifts to all who knew him. His 54 years of life were marked by deep familial bonds, a passion for the outdoors, and a legacy of kindness that will be remembered by many.

Quod’s journey began as the beloved son of Diodato Amaral and the late Pong Sun (Ha) Amaral. His formative years laid the foundation for a life filled with love, laughter, and the importance of family. Quod’s heart found its match in Meghan (Haggart) Amaral, his devoted wife of over 30 years. Together, they built a life full of joy, shared interests, and unwavering support for one another. The couple was blessed with two sons, Aiden Amaral and Bill Huard, both of Cranston, who will carry on their father’s legacy of humor and adventure.

Quod’s brotherly bonds were strong with Terry Amaral and his wife Waka of Irvington, NY, and Robert Amaral and his wife Dannine of North Attleboro. His role as a fun-loving uncle to Nathan, Olivia, Brandon, Ethan Amaral and Maki Watanabe added another layer of joy to his life. Quod’s familial ties extended beyond his immediate family, touching the lives of all those around him with his friendly demeanor.

Professionally, Quod was known for his skillful hands and strong work ethic. He started his career as a welder for Electric Boat before a disability led him to other paths. Despite any challenges, Quod’s determination never wavered, and he found fulfillment in various pursuits, including his time spent as a commercial truck driver. His love for mechanics shone through in his enjoyment of tinkering with cars and engines, a hobby that brought him immense satisfaction.

Quod’s zest for life was evident in his varied interests. A former parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, he found solace and community in his faith. His earlier years were filled with running and weightlifting, and he maintained his love for the outdoors through hiking. An avid football fan, Quod’s enthusiasm for the game was contagious, and he relished the camaraderie of watching matches with friends and family. His taste for the thrilling and mysterious was reflected in his fondness for horror movies and murder-forensics shows.

Above all, Quod will be remembered as a man who lived life to the fullest. His sense of humor brought laughter to any room, his friendliness made him a joy to be around, and his adventurous, selfless and generous spirit inspired those lucky enough to accompany him on his life’s journey. Quod’s absence will be deeply felt by all who knew him, but his memory will continue to bring smiles and warmth to the hearts of his loved ones.

As we bid farewell to Quod, we celebrate the remarkable life he led and the countless ways he enriched the lives of others. His story does not end with his passing but continues in the anecdotes shared, the lessons he taught, and the love he spread. Richard D. Amaral’s legacy is one of joy, friendship, and adventure—a legacy that will endure in the hearts of his family and friends forever.
