Vincent J. Sollitto, Jr., 87, of North Providence, passed away peacefully Monday September 22nd, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Carol (Villella) Sollitto for 63 years.
Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Vincent J., Sr. and Marie (Giso) Sollitto.
Mr. Sollitto proudly served in both the United States Navy and the United States Air Force with an honorable discharge in 1960. He was a graduate of Providence College, earning a Bachelors of Arts degree in 1974.
He served on the Providence Fire Dept. Rescue for 22 years, retiring as a Lieutenant, and was employed by the State of Rhode Island at the Veterans Auditorium.
He also was the owner of Carol Painting Co. and the restaurant, Carol’s Kitchen.
When he was not working, he enjoyed playing the piano, making people smile with his legendary jokes, playing cards, and spending time with his family members, who were the light of his life.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Lisa Marie Clift and her husband Michael, Dawn Marie Gianfrancesco and her husband Mario, Michael J. Sollitto and his wife Jennifer, and Vincent J. Sollitto, III and his fiancé Yolanda; twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
