William E. Begones, Jr. (Ret. CPD)
85, of Cranston, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Donna Rae (Thienpont) Begones. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late William and Rita (Comella) Begones.
William was a Cranston Police Officer for many years before his retirement. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War Era. He was also the owner and operator of All Star Baseball cards in Cranston.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his loving children, William E. Begones III and his wife Tammy, Frank Iafrate and his wife Lisa; cherished grandchildren BJ Begones, Abby Begones, Kenny Iafrate, and Giselle Iafrate; dear sister Helen Russo. He was the brother of the late Richard Begones.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, January 28th at 12 noon in St. Mary’s Church, Cranston. Burial with Military Honors will take place in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. VISITING HOURS will be held on Monday, January 27th from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. in the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory, 1278 Park Ave., Cranston.
