Ernest D. Thomas, 78, of North Providence. Devoted Family Man, Beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather

Ernest D. Thomas, aged 78, of North Providence (formerly of Providence), passed away peacefully on April 20, 2026, at Golden Crest Nursing Home. Ernest was predeceased by his beloved wife of nearly thirty years, with whom he raised three children and made his loving home, Carol (Hall) Thomas, whose memory he cherished deeply. He is survived by his loving son, Daniel Thomas of Warwick, and his devoted daughter, Antwoinette (Toni) Thomas of Gum Spring, Virginia. He was predeceased by his son Michael E. Thomas. Ernest also leaves behind his sister, Mert Thomas of Texas. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Clayton, Wayne and David Thomas, and Frank and Charles Washington. Ernest’s greatest joy was his family, which included six grandchildren and one treasured great grandchild.

He was known for his unwavering devotion to those he loved and for his remarkable sense of humor that brightened every gathering. Throughout his career as a truck driver, Ernest favored local routes, allowing him to remain close to home and family. Family traditions were the heart of Ernest’s life. He delighted in family gatherings, clam boils, and lively card games of spades. Stevie Wonder’s music often filled the air during these moments, reflecting Ernest’s appreciation for soulful tunes. His passion for cheese was legendary, and he especially treasured Saturday night drive-ins and Sunday morning IHOP breakfasts with his children. Ernest made each day special for his children, bringing home chocolates and candies as sweet reminders of his love.

Above all, Ernest Thomas was a loving spouse, an excellent husband, and a grandfather whose warmth, humor, and kindness enriched the lives of all who knew him. His legacy of devotion, joy, and generosity will be forever cherished by his family and community.

Services have been entrusted to the Berarducci Funeral Home and will be private.
