General G. Jones, 91, of Providence, RI passed away on Tuesday, November 5th, 2024. Born in Uniontown, Alabama, Mr. Jones served honorably in the United States Navy for 20 years before his second career with UPS for over 20 years. He was known as a kindhearted, humble, and generous human being to his family, friends and the community. He touched the hearts of many and will forever be deeply missed.
He is preceded by his wife, Laura (Barron) Jones, his parents, General Sr. and Charity (Harris) Jones, and his siblings, Charles Edward Jones, Herman Jones, Claudette (Jones) Tanniehill, Clemetine Jones, Lillie Mae Jones, and Leah Kate (Jones) McGee.
He is survived by his children, Gerald Jones of Providence, RI, General Jones III of Georgia, Gina Marie (Jones) Ortiz and Darlene Jones of Providence, RI, and his stepdaughter, Doris Barron of Pawtucket, RI; his sister, Lelia Anderson of Georgia; his brother, Franklin Jones of Alabama, his nephew, Curtis Anderson of Georgia, and many other nephews and nieces as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
At his request, funeral services will be private.
