Lorraine De Costa

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Lorraine M. DeCosta (Speaks), who peacefully passed away with her daughters by her side on June 22, 2025 at HopeHealthHuliar Hopsice Center.

Born and raised in Providence RI, Lorraine was the loving mother to her son Otis DeCosta (deceased) daughters Ann MarieDeCosta/companion Larry DeCristofaro, and Monique DeCosta-Ellis/companion Albert Jett. Grandmother to Naomi DeCosta(deceased) and Great Grandmother of Jaiden Melendez. She will also leave Her St. Martin De Porres Family and numerous other family members and friends to cherish her memory. She waspreceded in death by her Mother Nora Townsend Speaks, Sister Jeanette Speaks and Nephew Joseph (Joey) Speaks.

Lorraine would be considered by many as a work-a-holicmaintaining two full-time jobs at the same time at both Travelers Insurance Company and Mine Safety Appliances where shemanufactured safety equipment for the US military, then retiringfrom both. Lorraine also sold both Avon and Popular Club on the side and worked numerous other part-time jobs.

Lorraine will be remembered by her family and friends for her quick wit, her positive personality, great generosity, multiple “phrase sayings”, and always being cold!!

Lorraine enjoyed being around her family and friends just “hanging out”. She was a proud proud member and volunteer of the Saint Martin de Porres Senior center where she attended almost every day. She had been a member of the Watergate Lounge, Club David’s, Onley St, and TNBA-Providence Senate Bowling Leagues.

We invite you to come celebrate Lorraine’s life with a viewing from 9-ll AM, followed by a Catholic Services at 11AM onFriday June 27, 2025 at 571 Broad St Providence, RI
