He was the beloved husband of the late Shirley Ann (Giacobbi) Arena; devoted father of John R. Arena, Jr. and his wife Michelle; cherished grandfather of Antonio Arena; and brother of Robert and Nicholas Arena and the late Anthony and Donald Arena. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.
John was a retired Providence Firefighter and an avid Red Sox fan.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, December 23, 2025 from 10:00-11:00 AM in Saint Edwards Church, 997 Branch Avenue, Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Saint Ann Cemetery, Cranston.
