Thanks to Amber Ma for the recent Eye piece on Nimki at the Courtland Club. Her story on Chef Nikhil Naikar (“Chef Nikhil Naiker Crafts a James Beard-Worthy Fusion of Flavors at Nimki” from February 19) was spot on with enough detail to help give us a good idea of what we’d find. I’m so glad we visited this past weekend.
I’d been hearing great things about Nimki but sometimes hype just makes me more skeptical. This time, however, the food and the experience lived up to the story. Standouts for us were the saag paneer and the lamb shank.
Warm, cozy, relaxed, filled with delightful aromas, sound, and light, it was pretty perfect. Kudos to the bar as well. My husband can’t have sugar so they made up a savory cocktail that was so good! (Full disclosure: I’m an editor at the Eye–but hey, we have to eat too!)
