Peggy Ann Garrett

Peggy Ann Garrett, 76, of Providence passed away, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, June 15, 2025.

Born in Woonsocket, RI she was the daughter of the late Rev. Clarence Edward Farrow and Hattie Idella (Cole) Farrow.

Peggy was a devoted mother with a passion for supporting and guiding her children and other young people. She was a connector, a person who had the unique ability to make friends wherever she went. In her professional life, she spent many years working as a jeweler and craftswoman with Monet Jewelers, before becoming a full-time parent. Peggy was also dedicated to her church community at Holy Cross Church of God In Christ United, where she served as a choir member, member of the usher board and Deaconess. She made a constant effort to ensure people in her life felt loved. Peggy had a knack for making everyone feel safe and at home when in her presence; she had a generous spirit. She was known for making delicious, home-made cakes and other baked treats for family friends and various special occasions. Peggy is an alumni of Hope High School in Providence, RI. She was an avid music fan who attended hundreds of concerts and in her youth, she was active in several early efforts for social change and equal rights in RI.

Peggy is survived by her loving children Princess E. Garrett and Levi Garrett Jr.,nieces Gina Farrow, Robin Farrow-Layne, and Britney Ramos; and nephew Brandon Ramos, and her great nieces Nya Layne and Najah Layne. Peggy also has an extended family of many cousins and loved ones. She is also survived by her spouse, Levi Garrett Sr. She was the sister of the late Rev. Robert E. Farrow, Mary R. Farrow and Rita E. Ramos.

Visiting hours are Saturday, July 5, 2025, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM and will be followed by the funeral service at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow at Swan Point Cemetery, Providence. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Peggy’s memory to Sojourner House, PO Box 28302, Providence, RI 02908.
