Albert F. Peterson, Jr., 84, of Johnston, passed away Friday, February 13, 2026, at Rhode Island Hospital. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Albert F. Peterson Sr. and Dorothy (King) Peterson.
He is survived by his significant other Ann Damiano, his son, Albert F. Peterson III and his wife, Robyn, his daughter Janine L. Peterson, two stepchildren, Jeffrey Damiano and his wife Mary and Christin Damiano and her wife Nada Awad, along with five grandchildren – Christopher and Anastasia Peterson, Keelin Vargas, Augustine (Gus) Awad-Damiano, and Zachary Damiano, and two great grandchildren, Keilani and Kimora Vargas.
Al was a graduate of Hope High School in Providence and attended Johnson and Wales University. Up until the time of his passing, he worked many hours at American Safety Programs and Training, Inc in Warwick, RI. Prior to his retirement 15 years ago, Al was a Residential Advisor for the State of Rhode Island. Al proudly served our country as a member of the United States Army from 1963-1967. When not spending time with his family and friends, he could typically be found on the golf course during his early years with his son, grandson and his friends. Mr. Peterson and Jane Peterson proudly served the community of North Providence for many years. They were on the board of directors of the North Providence West Little League Association. Their service proudly encompasses the historic 1979 North Providence West softball team and World Series victory in Waco, TX, coached by their late sister-in-law, Aunt Edie Reall. During his son’s early years, Al was actively involved with the North Providence Jets Football Association. Al was a proud member of the Shriners organization. He was an avid drum player of the Holy Rosary Caballeros based in Providence.
