Jon Howard’s article on Springfield’s Empowerment Zone Schools (”Springfield’s
Empowerment Zone Schools Thrive- A Model for Providence?” from March 26) was
great. Informative and provocative, it asked and answered some of the questions I've
had about Providence schools since moving here almost forty years ago.
I hope that the powers-that-be on Westminster Street, at the State Department of
Education and in the mayor's office read it. Perhaps [RI Commissioner of Elementary
and Secondary Education] Angelica Infante-Green should appoint Jon as her proxy for
Providence Public Schools?
